Richard Bloodworth, the headteacher of Durham Johnston
Comprehensive School, was Musical Director of Ryton Choral Society
for sixteen years. He was until recently, Musical Director of Northern
Opera where he has worked with professional singers such as Janice
Cairns, Susan Stacey, Yvonne Howard, Mark Holland and Lynton Atkinson,
as well as with the professional directors Jonathan Clift, Peter
ReIton and Stuart Maunder. He also worked as a guest conductor with
Cleveland Youth Opera in Don Giovanni and Opera Nova inThe Marriage
of Figaro.

Young |

Len Young was born in Manchester
and then lived in the North Riding of Yorkshire before going to
the Royal College of Music in London. He taught in London and Newcastle
for 14 years before spending ten years as Adviser for Music with
Newcastle Education Authority. He resumed teaching as Head of Music
at Queen Elizabeth High School in 1995.

Haslam |

David Haslam began conducting
at school. At the age of seventeen he won the Walter Stokes scholarship
to the Royal Academy of Music where he studied flute, piano and
composition. As a student, he was offered the position of principal
flute of the Scottish National Orchestra. He accepted and remained
there until he joined Northern Sinfonia, again as a principal flute,
in 1962. Today he is acknowledged as one of the most admired flautists
in the profession.
With the Sinfonia, he is
also involved in programme planning, composition, orchestration,
solo-directing and conducting.

Brönnimann |

Baldur Brönnimann
was born and educated in Switzerland. He studied at the Music Academy
of Basle, participating in masterclasses with eminent musicians
including György
Kurtag and Witold Lutoslawski.
